No Drought....because washing your hair is a bore

I don't know why but when I was packing all my beauty bits to come away with I didn't even think about dry shampoo. It's something I used to use a lot at home...that maybe says something about how often I wash my hair but it really is a god send. Now that I'm working again and spend a lot of my time wiping strands of my hair away with oily hands (If you didn't know I'm a massage/beauty therapist, not just sweaty) I have definitely felt a need for dry shampoo in my life and, like I do with most of my beauty needs now, I ventured to Lush to see what they had to offer.

The No Drought dry shampoo from Lush is the first I've tried that isn't in a spray bottle, I wasn't sure how I would like this but I find I actually use a lot less product. I puff this into the roots of my hair and  let it absorb any oil while I'm getting ready for the day. I then comb it through and style however I like, this gives it a chance to work for a bit before styling. 
The smell is very fresh and citrusy but not too over powering and it seems to do a great shop at mopping up any excess oil. Lush is really reasonably priced too and as I can't see this bottle running out any time it means a lot go bang for your buck...winner winner *nut roast dinner!

The 9-5 cleanser

So when I left England I was all set with my Bliss cleanser....we didn't get on but that's a post for another day. Since then I had been using a cleanser from Soap and Glory which I do like but it has now come to an end and I thought the best idea was to get something that I know I love! I popped in to Lush to pick up my usual Ultra bland cleansing balm but then I spotted this. Now, I love Ultra bland a lot and this tends to have me being a little heavy handed and getting through it really quickly. When I spotted 9 to 5 I thought I would be getting more bang for my buck! 
I've only used this a handful of times so far but I really like it. It's designed to be quick and it really is. It's also very simple in terms of ingredients which is perfect. I want a cleanser to remove all the gunk off my face while leaving it feeling healthy and soft, them it gets washed down the sink, a lot of fancier cleansers can sometimes be a little it unnecessary. It has floral essential oils and and almond oil base which means it smells very fresh and leaves my skin hydrated, that's all I need. 
So there we go, a potential new favourite that will hopefully last me a long time. Lush to the rescue once again!

Lush fresh face masks

If you follow me instagram you may have seen that my lovely boyfriend surprised me with a Christmas stocking full of all my favourite treats, he's a good'un. Inside the stocking were some Lush treats, I was thrilled especially as I know that the Lush stores normally give him a bit of a head ache. As amazing as they smell it can be a little bit over whelming. 
One of the products he'd chosen was the Catastrophe Cosmetic fresh face mask. They don't last too long as they're fresh so I didn't waste any time in getting it on my face and see what I thought. It claims to cleanse and soothe the skin which, after a Christmas spent having a few too many on the beach, is exactly what my skin needed. 
It looks a big grim in the tub but once applied it turns blue as it contains blueberries. You just leave it on the skin for around 10 minutes and then remove with a warm cloth. My skin felt very soft and smooth after, I want to use the rest up soon too and see if helps reduce the redness around my nose and cheeks. 
I'm sure Steven hadn't meant to get me hooked on another Lush product but I think that may be exactly what he's done.  

Lush Christmas

 

It's that time of year again...sort of. I had actually popped in to Lush the other day to check out their Halloween products only to see that they'd by passed that holiday all together and it was in fact Christmas. I love Halloween so I was a little bit disappointed but then I started rummaging through the new Christmas products and got very excited indeed.   They have some amazing Christmas products out. Some new and some old favourites that come out every year and I loved them all. I had to be a little bit sensible as I'm going away soon so wanted to get things I would use up before going, I focused on the bath bombs.  

 

Butterbear: I think this is a new one this year and is similar to the butterball. The scent is really mild which some might prefer. It has cocoa butter and ylang ylang in which are great for the skin. Once in the bath it leaves small chunks of coca butter floating around, these melt into the skin and leaves it feeling soft and silky afterwards. It's a bit of a bargain at £1.95 too.

 

 

Cinders: This is an old favourite and one I buy again and again every year. It's the classic Christmas scent and is so spicy and warming that you feel all cosy in the bath. The popping candy on the top bursts when it's in the bath and if you close your eyes you feel like your lying next to a crackling fire.

 

 

Luxury Lush Pud: I think this one has been out before but I haven't tried it. I love how bright and colourful it is and just know it will turn into something even more exciting in the bath. It's main ingredient is lavender so I know it will be prefect for before bed or at the end of a long day.

 

 

The Yog Nog: This bath bomb is huge and the scent is the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. It's supposed to be very hydrating and softening for the skin but I know it will be great for relaxing and warming up on the chillier nights.

 

 

The Sparkly Pumpkin: This is the only bubble bar I picked up as you can get a few baths out of each one and I didn't think I'd have time to use up too many. I couldn't resist this one though. I'm sure it will make a big mess of my bath but it's just so pretty and sparkly. It has a hint of spice to it so it still smells festive but is more fruity as it contains quite a lot of citrus fruits. I love it and can't wait to use it up.

 

 

So there we go, officially Christmas, sort of. I wanted to share these while they were still new but I have lots of Halloween posts coming up too. There were so many other amazing products that I would have loved to try too, for those of you not moving to Australia in the next few weeks, you should definitely check them out!

Solid shampoo and conditioner

 

I'd heard about the Shampoo and conditioner bars from lush lots of times before and it wasn't something I'd ever thought about trying. For whatever reason I decided to pick one up recently and so far have really been ejoying it. I have the Honey I washed my hair shampoo bar. I'd tried the honey I washed the kids soap before and it's probably my faveourite scent from Lush. It's like sweet, honey, oaty goodness, why wouldnt't I want that in my hair! The guy in the shop told me it would last 60 washes, which is amazing!   It feels like using a bar of soap on your hair, you simply lather it up in your hands and massage it into your hair. It feels sqeaky clean after which I didn't like at first but thats's where the conditioner comes in. I have the Jungle conditioner bar which is scumtiously fruity and fresh. You use this in exactly the same way except focusing it on the ends of the hair. These paired together make my hair feel amazing. I trust Lush as a brand too because they use good quality, natuarl, anaimal friendly products. I'm pleased that I can use there products in more ways now.   Let me know if you used either of these products before and what other lush products I should try.

Lush Cleansers

Hello!!   I've been a fan of Lush for years but like most people I've always been most interested in there bath products. I'm a self proclaimed skin care junkie so I have no idea why it's taken me so long to try out some of there skin care offerings. I heard Sammy from beauty crush mention they had a cleansing balm in a skin care video and thought it might be worth trying. It was!!  

  The cleansing balm is called Ultra bland . It's gorgeous! The girl in Lush (I think her name was Lauren) explained that the reason it's called Ultrabland is because it uses really bland ingredients that work together to make something amazing. It has a really rich and creamy texture and doesn't feel too oily unlike some cleaning balms. It's great at removing makeup too and my skin feels soft for ages after using this which I haven't found with any other cleaners I've used before. I can't remember the price of this but I know it wasn't much, Lush is very reasonably priced and I know this will last ages.  

 

  I'm always very impressed with the enthusiasm of the girls in Lush. They really know their stuff. I was shown quite a few products while I was in the store but the other one that really stood out to me was Let the good times roll which is an exfoliating cleanser. My oh my the smell of this is sweeet! It was originally a Christmas product but has been made permanent due to popular demand and I can totally see why. It has popcorn in it!! I thought this would actually be really harsh on the skin but it's very finely milled so feels quite gentle. I've been using this on an evening after using Ultrabland and I'm really pleased with how my skins been feeling since using them!   There were a couple of other products that I fancied trying too, after how pleased I've been with these I think I'll be trying some more. I really love the ethics of Lush too, there a very animal friendly brand which I really like, I wish more brands were like this. Hope you enjoyed today's post!

Lush does Christmas

Hello!!

I can go a whole year without stepping foot in Lush but as soon as the weather starts to turn colder I know it's only a matter of time before they bring out there Christmas range and I become the biggest Lush fan ever! This year is no exception and I thought I'd share with you what I've bought so far.

This first one is called Northern lights and is a bath bomb. I think this one is actually supposed to be a sparkler and made for bonfire night. This is a new one and I haven't had a chance to try it yet but I'm fully expecting  a colour explosion in the bath if it's supposed to be a fire work. To me it smells quite lavendery which isn't something that reminds me of bonfire night at all but it's pleasant enough any way.

 

This delicious looking thing is the Candy Mountain bubble bar. The thing I like most about the bubble bars is that, unlike the bath bombs, they last a few bath times. This one smells so gorgeous I could actually eat it. For any fans of Snow Fairy (Lush's famous Christmas shower gel), it smells exactly like that. Incredibly sweet and sugary and very christmasy!

 

Now how cute is this little guy! This is the Melted Snowman bath melt. Sadly mine lost his nose and if I'm honest I had to balance one of his eyes back on to take the picture but he's very sweet all the same. He smells quite spicy and christmasy without being too overpowering.

I've definitely saved my favourite to last here. Cinders is Christmas in a bath bomb. It smells so spicy and warming and has little pieces of popping candy in it that sounds like a crackling fire when your in the bath. I will definitely be stocking up on these while there still in stores and would definitely recommend everyone to do the same.

This is all I've got for now but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to get more. Autumn and winter is all about having lovely, warm baths for me and adding a festive lush treat makes it even better. I'll keep you posted with any of the others I try. Hope you enjoyed today's post.
