Lush Cleansers

Hello!!

I've been a fan of Lush for years but like most people I've always been most interested in there bath products. I'm a self proclaimed skin care junkie so I have no idea why it's taken me so long to try out some of there skin care offerings. I heard Sammy from beauty crush mention they had a cleansing balm in a skin care video and thought it might be worth trying. It was!!

The cleansing balm is called Ultra bland . It's gorgeous! The girl in Lush (I think her name was Lauren) explained that the reason it's called Ultrabland is because it uses really bland ingredients that work together to make something amazing. It has a really rich and creamy texture and doesn't feel too oily unlike some cleaning balms. It's great at removing makeup too and my skin feels soft for ages after using this which I haven't found with any other cleaners I've used before. I can't remember the price of this but I know it wasn't much, Lush is very reasonably priced and I know this will last ages.

I'm always very impressed with the enthusiasm of the girls in Lush. They really know their stuff. I was shown quite a few products while I was in the store but the other one that really stood out to me was Let the good times roll which is an exfoliating cleanser. My oh my the smell of this is sweeet! It was originally a Christmas product but has been made permanent due to popular demand and I can totally see why. It has popcorn in it!! I thought this would actually be really harsh on the skin but it's very finely milled so feels quite gentle. I've been using this on an evening after using Ultrabland and I'm really pleased with how my skins been feeling since using them!

There were a couple of other products that I fancied trying too, after how pleased I've been with these I think I'll be trying some more. I really love the ethics of Lush too, there a very animal friendly brand which I really like, I wish more brands were like this. Hope you enjoyed today's post!

Sorbet for your face?

Hello!!

Me and my mum were having a little browse around the Body Shop about a month ago. I had a discount code so thought I'd see if there was anything I wanted to try. When I saw this I was instantly excited. I had never heard of a facial sorbet before but thought it sounded delicious. I bloody love sorbet!

What it's supposed to be used for isn't very clear. It's described as an aqua boost....what does that mean? I've been using it as an extra thirst quenching layer under my moisteriser and I've been really enjoying how my skins been feeling. I think sorbet is the perfect description for this product. I've personally never tried putting sorbet on my face but I imagine this is exactly what it feels like. Very cool and refreshing and leaves the skin feeling tingly for ages after. I think this will feel great on the skin after a day in the sun, assuming those few warmer days we've had recently weren't our lot!
This is my second pot of this and I love it! As I've mentioned before, the Body Shop often have promotions and codes for money off, you nearly always get a bargain and their products are great.

Fitness Friday: I can run!!

from befitmonaco.com

Hello!!

At the time of writing this the last thing I feel is fit, I'm slowly turning into a phlegmy grog monster and I'm feeling quite sorry for myself. I don't handle illness well. Before the grog hit, believe it or not, I had started to run and as it turns out, I don't hate it. About a year ago I decided to give it a go but after about 10 throat burning, blood tasting seconds I quickly gave up and decided that running wasn't for me. However with Total Warrior moving ever closer I needed to try again. One of my friends has done quite a lot of running before so one morning I went along with her and really surprised myself. She showed me how to pace myself and I managed to do a 3 mile run, we even threw in a little sprint at the end. I really couldn't believe that I'd managed it. Since then I've managed to do a few more runs, if I'm honest they've had mixed results. The weather has been all over the places recently and I've found it much harder in the sun but it's all a learning curve and I'm pleased with how I'm doing so far.

I need to double my distance before Total Warrior so I'm currently searching for a good app to help me track my progress. I need something to plan my routes too, I have absolutely no sense of direction and would definitely get lost trying to venture 10km on my own. Life's a challenge when you don't know when your going.

This week's slowed me down a little bit so I'm hoping I feel better very soon so I can get back on track. I'm hoping that a few runs a week along with some strength training in the gym will leave me total warior ready in no time......I live in hope!

London Adventures

Hello!!

I only get one weekend off work a month so I always like to make the most of it when they come around. On my last one I decided to venture down to London to visit my friends. We had amazing weather so we just sauntered around in the sun. I had my first trip down Portobello road, I thought it was really cool and kept singing the song from Bedknobs and Broomsticks, I imagine that got annoying! "You can eat like a King in Portobello road".

We went to see  The 39 Steps on the evening, managed to get a cheeky upgrade to the front row of the theatre too. I had such a good night, the show was absolutely hilarious which I wasn't expecting, I would definitely recommend going if you get the chance.

The next day was another sunny one. Apparently it was snowing at home so I timed it very nicely. We went to Hyde Park and had a little pic-nic in the sun, I decided that if I lived in London I would definitely learn to roller blade, it looks like so much fun! I got my train back later and actually nearly missed it by insisting on getting some veggie Colin the caterpillars from M&S and had to leg it down the platform!

Massive thanks to my lovely friends for letting me stay at there's and keeping me entertained for the weekend, I really appreciate it! Here are a million and one pictures of my time there, enjoy!

Springy purple lips

When I think about Spring makeup I don't normally think about purple lips, it's definitely more of an Autumn/Winter thing for me. Recently while perusing the Topshop makeup counter I discovered the Fast Lane lipstick and thought it might be the perfect in-betweeny purple. I've been a fan of Topshop's lipsticks for a long time and really like the creamy consistency they have, they're a little bit more sheer which I prefer for the warmer weather.

I also found the Mac lip pencil in Heroine. It's a slightly darker purple than Fast Lane but they work well together, especially if you want to vamp it up for an evening look. I also think you could use Heroine on it's own, I know they have a matching lipstick which I'm very tempted to try too. Who knows maybe purple lips in Spring can be my thing!

Waking my skin up for Spring

Hello!

Spring has definitely sprung and with warmer weather I think it's nice to be able to wear lighter or even no makeup. With that in mind I wanted to give my skin a bit of a boost to perk it up after the winter months. I've found two products that I think have really helped.

The Clarins gentle exfoliater brightening toner has been raved about my bloggers for ages! I've never actually tried any facial acids before but Carline Hirons raves about them and I just take any skin care advice she gives as gospel. It's honestly amazing. Initially I was using this morning and evening but have been told that's too much so now I just use it in the morning after cleansing. My skin feels really smooth and awake after using this and I find that my makeup goes on really well afterwards. I've not been using any faial srubs since using this as I don't feel that I need to.

The Body Shope Vitamin C facial radiance capsules are great. They are designed to give your skin a  boost of radiance which is perect for what I'm wanting at the moment. You get 28 in a tub so they last for a month then I think you go back to using your normal serum under your moisteriser. I use these every morning and find that by patting them into the skin and following it by my moisteriser my skin feels really great and is definitely starting to look brighter.

So there we go. If I need to brave a vare face I will be ready!! Hope you enjoyed today's post.
