Barry M gelly high-shine nails

I painted my last night and couldn't stop starring at how pretty they were so I thought I'd share with you what I used. This is the Barry M gelly hi-shine nail paint in the colour Greenberry and I think it is just beautiful. I've actually had it for quite a while but this time I've noticed what a gem it is! Barry M came out with these about a year ago when gel nails started to become a big thing and I think it definitely looks like you've had a professional gel manicure. Gel nails can sometimes be quite damaging so this is a nice way to get the effect without having to worry about that and you can change the colour as often as you want! I've got a couple of others too in the colours Lychee and Dragon which are very nice too and at £3.99 each, I think I'll be getting a few more. That's all for today. Hope you enjoyed!

New hair

Just a little post to show you my new hair! I don't think I've ever shown you a picture of what my hair was like before and I don't seem to have one. I'm not normally a big fan of my photo being taken. My hair before was pretty light, I'd been getting a full head of highlights for a while and was just about blond. The main reason I've gone back dark was because a couple of weeks after every visit to the hairdressers my hair decided to turn ginger. Don't get me wrong, I think red hair is beautiful but it wasn't what I was after so I've gone for a colour that is closer to my natural shade. I have noticed that it's started to fade already but I thought that would happen because of how light it was before. I'm hoping that after it's been done a couple of times it will start to last longer. My hair feels healthier for it and I'm really happy with it for now. I do have a bit of a habit of changing colour but for now I am happy!!

West Side Story and day out in Edinburgh

A week ago my mum, boyfriend's mum and I went on a little trip to Edinburgh to see West Side Story. I'm a huge fan of musicals and have wanted to see West Side Story since I was in my school's version years ago. We had tickets for the matinee performance so, of course, we decided to make a day of it and shopped and had lunch before the show.

Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities, it's incredibly pretty and I find the people really friendly. Princess street is especially good for shopping and I did get a one or two things while I was there. We stopped off for lunch at Bella Italia, one of my favourite chain restaurants. I was well and truly stuffed when I left!

West Side Story itself did not disappoint!! The cast were all amazingly talented and the singing and dancing was amazing. I wasn't really familiar with any of the cast apart from Katie Hall who played Maria. She was on the BBC programme I'd do anything a few years ago and has only got better since then.

The show was on at the Edinburgh play house where I've seen shows before but this was the first time I'd seen so much detail put into the whole theatre for a show. The fake graffiti on the side of the building and the lyrics from "I feel pretty" on the bathroom mirror were my favourites.

So, a little bit of a different one today but going to the theatre is one of my favourite things so I thought I'd share it with you. I think West Side Story will be in Edinburgh for a while and then touring round the rest of the country so, if you get the chance, I would definitely recommend it!

Tropic purchases

One of my friends has started doing a little bit of work with the company Tropic and invited me to a party to learn about some of the products. Tropic is still a relatively new skin care line which was created by the lovely Susan Ma from the apprentice, she's got gorgeous skin so I was definitely up for having a little browse of the products. Tropic are all about natural ingredients and are very big on animal welfare. As a vegetarian, this is very important to me so I was very excited to see what the products were like so that I can start to become more cruelty free.

I only picked up a couple of items. Sadly the party was on the wrong side of pay day so I couldn't go too wild. The first item I got was the vitamin toner. It comes in a spray bottle which is always a winner when it comes to toners. It feels really refreshing on the skin and because one of the main ingredients is rose water it smells just like Turkish delight, yummy scrummy!! So far I haven't noticed this doing anything too amazing to my skin but I can't say I ever really have with toners. I do however, enjoy the way it wakes my skin up on a morning which is enough to make me a fan!

The other item I got is the Blushing Sculpting palette. I mentioned a few posts back that I'd been eyeing up the Naked flushed palette from Urban decay so when I seen this it seemed like a very good idea. Sadly I'm a bit of a pancake face and wasn't blessed with the best bone structure so any product I can find to help me fake some killer cheek bones always catches my eye. This one comes with a lovely matte bronzer that isn't too orange or dark and is perfect for contouring or just warming the skin. It also has a beautiful rose blush which has a subtle gold shimmer running through it. The highlighter is really gorgeous and helps to finish the look off beautifully. I'd be tempted to keep the blush and highlighter for an evening look as the shimmer is quite full on but the bronzer would be good for day or night. So far this product has filled the void of the Naked flushed palette and has just about defined my none existent cheek bones!!

So that's it for today. I'd be excited to try out a few more bits from Tropic because so far I've been very impressed. Hope you enjoyed today's post!!

Vinylux nails

One of the lovely girls at work offered to paint my nails for me the other day. We use Vinylux polishes at work and I've got to say that I'm a big fan. Vinylux are made by CND, which is the same company who make Shellac so naturally, the colour range is massive!! The colour that I went for this time is Sage Scarf, I think it's from the Spring collection but I'm not completely sure. I'm really happy with it though and think it's a little bit different from the usual colours that I'd go for. The spots are very cute too!!

Just a brief one today but I just wanted to share this. Hope you enjoyed!!

Day out to Blackpool

This weekend I got an unexpected day off. I work every weekend usually so this is a rare occasion and I was determined to make the most of it. As my boyfriend works from Monday to Friday this also means that we never get a day off together. We're both massive fans of theme parks so we decided to hop on a train and spend the day at Blackpool pleasure beach. We live up North so it's only about an hour away from us and seemed like the perfect idea!!

I've learnt to love Blackpool for what it is. I think it would be very easy for a first timer to visit and write it off for being cheap and nasty and it would be fairly easy to see why but these are the reasons why I absolutely love it. We're only in March so some of shops and stalls on the front weren't open yet but the Pleasure beach is now open at weekends and was in full swing! I'm still new to blogging and didn't do the best job of taking pictures (fail) but did manage to snap a few of some of the rides.

So here's just a few snaps. Some of the rides are over 100 years old and still going strong which I think is incredibly cool. Did have to treat myself to some sneaky donuts as well, they were very nice indeed. Overall it was a great day out and I would recommend the pleasure beach to anyone. I think there's plenty to do even if your not really in to your big thrills but there's certainly some scarier ones if that's your bag!!

This ones been a little bit different but I hope you've enjoyed!

Current Favourites

I've decided I'm not going to do monthly favourites as I'm normally quite loyal to the products that I like and don't tend to mix things up too much. I thought I'd share with you a few things that have really caught my fancy lately and will keep you posted as and when this changes.

The first item that's really tickled my fancy is the naked palette. I know I am very late to the party with this one as there are now 3 eye shadow palettes, a blush palette and lip glosses in the naked range but I'm very glad I've finally caught on. I think it's just beautiful and very wearable. I tend to wear sin, buck, smog and toasted the most but I'm looking forward to wearing some of the darker shades for an evening look.

Next on the list is the Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation. I've had this one for a little while and was really excited to really excited to try it. At first I wasn't impressed at all. It was a runnier consistency than I normally like and I found that it didn't last on my skin for very long. In spite of that I've found myself coming back to it and now really really like it. I find with a little powdering through my t-zone it lasts pretty well and leaves a lovely glow to the skin whilst still giving a nice coverage. Winner!

Next up is the Topshop lipstick in innocen. This is the first liostick from Topshop that I've tried and I will definitely be trying more because I absolutely love it. This shade in particular is really wearable for day time and is really creamy in consistancy. I think I've worn it nearly every single day since I got ha!

The next item that I've loved for a while now is the Nivea Q 10 anti-wrinkle night cream. I've done a review on this one before and my love for it is still growing. It's amazing stuff!

The next couple of items are a little bit random but I thought I'd throw them in there because I am definitely obsessed. The first one is the Game of Thrones series. I know I've mentioned what a big fan I am on here before but I really can't rate it enough. You need to watch it now!

This next one is another obsession of mine and I can easily demolish a bag of it in about half an hour! The Tesco's sweet and salted popcorn is amazing. Popcorn seems to have become quitea trendy snack lately and I've sampled my fair share but this wins hands down for me. Yum yum in my tum!!!

So that's my little list of what I've been loving recently. Hope it's been interesting to some of you given you some ideas of things you'd like to try out!

Shower essentials

Hello!!

Today I thought I would run through a few produts that I like to use in the shower. If I have the time I'm all about long showers. I like to have a good old pamper and sing at least 5 different songs while I'm in there. Here's a list of the things I use on my body while I'm in there.

The first thing I do when I'm in the shower is wash my hair using the Body shop ginger anti-dandruff shampoo. Now this sounds really unnatractive but this has saved my scalp over the last year. I used to suffer from a really painfull and irritated scalp and this shampoo fixed it after just one use and I've never looked back. The ginger scent is a bit different from other shampoos but I really enjoy it.

The next thing I use is the Rainforest shine conditioner from the Body shop. I use this on the ends of my hair and try and leave it in for as long as possible as I find this helps to really de-tangle my hair. This one contains no parabens, colorants or silicones so I know it's not going to dammage my hair in any way. Again the scent is lovely, it's very fruity but light and seems to last in my hair for a long time.

While I've got my conditioner on I washmy face first with my Arbonne calm gentle daily cleanser. I just use a couple of pumps and wash it all overmy face. On a couple of days of the week I follow this up with my Elemis gentle rose exfoliator which I absolutely love. The scent is amazing, it smells just like turkish delight (yum!) The beads in it are really small so I don't feel like it's too harsh for my skin but it still does a really nice job of getting rid of any dead skin that might be sitting on my face.

I then use my Soap and Glory Clean on me shower gel. This has the typical, gorgeous Soap and Glory scent which I absolutely adore. It's really creamy and hydrating on my skin too and lathers up really well so you don't need to use too much product. A couple of times a week I like to follow this up with a body scrub. I'm not very loyal to these but I'm currently using the Boots cocoa butter sugar scrub. It smells nice and seems to do the job but I can't say I'm massively in love with it at the moment but it could still win me over.

After I've rinsed my conditioner out I hop out the shower. At this time of the year I'm normally too coldto hang about too long and spend a long time moisterising. This is when Giriligo spray on body moisterizing mist by Soap and Glory comes in. I find it works best when the skins still damp as it helps to trap in the mositure better. Again it smells amazing and sinks right into the skin so I don't have to hang around in the cold for too long.

That's all for now. I hope you enjoyed this post and I shall be back with another one soon.
